Security Career Progression at Bridgegate – Gavin Bilton’s Journey
Profile
Name: Gavin Bilton
Role: Senior Door Supervisor – Bonnie Rogues
Time in Security: 6 Years
Current Level: Level 2 – Holding the Line

From the Armed Forces to the Front Door
Gavin’s journey into security didn’t follow a typical path. After serving 13 years in the Welsh Guards, including two tours in Afghanistan, he built a career rooted in discipline, resilience, and teamwork.
During his time in the military, Gavin developed a passion for strength training, going on to achieve incredible success as Wales’ Strongest Man and becoming UK’s Strongest Man twice. His strength career even led him to qualify for World’s Strongest Man, competing alongside elite athletes, including “The Mountain” from Game of Thrones.
His transition into security came naturally. Already familiar with the importance of structure and safety, and inspired by both his brother (a doorman) and his connection with Bridgegate Area Manager Simon, Gavin stepped into the industry ready to make an impact.

For Gavin, no two nights are ever the same, but the priority always is.
Working from 6pm through to 3am, he leads from the front, ensuring both customers and staff remain safe throughout the night. From managing intoxication levels to safeguarding vulnerable individuals, Gavin and his team handle it all with professionalism and control.
With a strong, experienced team of 13–15 staff, the environment is one of trust and reliability something Gavin values highly.
“Busy nights, especially big national events, are my favourite. The shift flies by.”
Despite his incredible achievements in both the military and the strength world, Gavin’s proudest title is much closer to home:
“Being a dad to my son Noah (2) is my biggest win – nothing comes close.”
Since joining Bridgegate, Gavin says the biggest difference has been the people around him.
“The team here are like family. That’s what’s really helped me level up.”
Being part of a supportive, experienced team has strengthened his confidence, leadership, and enjoyment of the role, proving that environment matters just as much as experience.
Gavin keeps his advice simple but powerful:
“Find the right team and venue for you. It’s not always about who pays more, it’s about where you feel safe and supported.”
Gavin sits firmly at Level 2, where he is a trusted presence on-site, leads shifts, and sets the tone for others around him.
With his background, leadership, and mindset, he’s a key part of maintaining high standards on the ground every night.
“I just really enjoy it. I always love it, and there’s always plenty of funny stories along the way.”
